Grace Filled Garden Mission Statement
Grace Filled Garden is a small family owned flower farm developed to help and employ adults with learning disabilities in a therapeutic and enriching setting. Grace Filled Garden creates an empowering work environment for interested adults with learning disabilities to play an essential role in the flower farm business. Gardening provides ample opportunity for physical activity combined with social interaction with exposure to nature and sunlight. It allows for the implementation of routines, practice of fine and gross motor skills as well as problem solving. It is good for the mind, body and soul. Our goal at Grace Filled Garden is for our employees to find love and meaning in their gardening work and to use skills learned to obtain long term sustainable employment.
The owner of the farm is a retired obstetrician and life long avid gardener. In her own words, "I am retired from a wonderful and blessed career as an OB/GYN physician in practice for over 35 years. I have witnessed the miracles that result from two microscopic cells joining and becoming a wonderful living being. In my retirement, I would like to continue to nurture life by witnessing and facilitating tiny seeds growing into gorgeous flowers for others to enjoy. Sometimes the miracle of life has an outcome that is different than expected. Parents, who have been brave and dedicated to raising a child with a learning disability, have a universal concern for what their loved one's life will be as an adult. Grace Filled Garden creates an empowering work environment for interested learning disabled adults to play a majority role in the flower farm business. The goal of the farm is to earn enough from the flower business to sustain meaningful employment."
